About

The operator stays in the work.

Vanmaan Marketing is Troy Van Maanen’s consulting practice: a place for accountable client work, hands-on implementation, and clear evidence about what happened next.

The short version

I build while I advise.

I know the work from the inside.

I operate businesses, build marketing systems, repair customer journeys, and work across the gaps between strategy, creative, technology, and daily execution. That matters because the hard part is rarely the first idea. It is carrying the decision through real tools, constraints, people, and proof.

AI expands what one operator can do.

I use AI to increase research depth, production speed, testing capacity, and operational reach. I do not hand the work over to a model and call the output finished. The context, judgment, review, and accountability remain human.

The point is dependable progress.

A faster draft is useful only when it reduces the total effort needed to reach an acceptable result. A new dashboard is useful only when it changes a decision. A campaign is useful only when it reaches the audience, creates the intended action, and can be measured honestly.

Client work and public learning stay separate.

Private business context stays private. When a project produces a useful lesson, it is shared only with the right permission and with the limits intact. Vanmaan Marketing remains the consulting practice; the broader mission and reusable field learning can live on their own surface.

Working principles

The standard behind the work.

These are not slogans. They are the practical checks used to decide what gets built, what gets measured, and what can honestly be claimed.

Evidence before theater

Read the real destination.

A passed build, a sent request, or a configured automation is not the business result. Check the place where the work must actually function.

Finish before expansion

Remove the current constraint.

Choose the smallest useful action that can change the outcome. Do not bury it under a longer list of interesting work.

Clear evidence boundaries

Say what the proof supports.

Distinguish what was observed, what is inferred, what remains unknown, and what still needs a result window.

Durable improvement

Keep the useful correction.

When work reveals a real lesson, turn it into a better brief, check, workflow, or decision rule—and test it again.

Work with Troy

Start with the business problem, not the tool.

If the path from attention to revenue is unclear, broken, or heavier than it should be, that is enough to start a useful conversation.
